The Diddy Laugh is a very commonly used sound effect which often appears in TV, radio and film. When I hear it, it is like being hit in the ears with an iron. I like to point it out to people, who usually look blankly at me. Now I pass this affliction on to you.

Another movie trailer, this time Southland Tales

Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? A rubbish film and a creepy sounding kid.

In opening titles of Taken

The Diddy Laugh plays almost right at the start of the film, as Liam Neeson is remembering his girl's birthday party.

In Sherlock

The BBC have removed the video off Youtube for this one (big old meanies!), but if you have Netflix you can see this episode. It's in the Series 1 episode "The Blind Banker" at around 52 minutes in, while Sherlock is looking at a photograph in an abandoned flat.
